This Is Not A Love Song!

This_is_not_a_love_songAs it´s Valentine’s Day soon I thought I´d reminisce about the time I put together a collection of love songs for my then partner (no it didn’t last).

I wish there had been online dating back in the day.
We all must have done this at some point, whether it’s for Valentine’s Day or just because we’re so loved up we want to share our musical tastes with our new found lover.
Now there are a couple of ways you can go about this, you can choose the standard classic love songs which everyone knows or you can go for something more obscure. I went for the latter.
Here is my collection which I put on a C60 cassette tape – remember those?

Well I don’t think they were too impressed with my choice of songs to say the least and the relationship ended soon after.
Now you’ve seen my songs from many years ago, what are you favorite five love songs? I would be interested to hear what makes your heart skip a beat.

I used to be a right love song geek before someone ‘re-educated’ me about what was cool music and what wasn’t!

I once subtly told a girlfriend that I wanted to finish with her by playing Meatloaf’s Two Out of Three aint Bad over and over – I know, it was bit of a naff thing to do, but I was only 18.

Favourite love song now is Snow Patrol’s Chasing Cars.

Do you think relationships will last if you don’t have the same taste in music? My husband and I had the same taste in rock music but not love songs, so I wasn’t impressed when he gave me 2 CD’s of music he had obviously taken a lot of time to compile. (I was impressed he had done it, just not on the end result!) My marriage lasted 20yrs so I must have forgiven him!

Recently I put together a CD to play in the car titled ‘Romance’, 20 tracks….you can get lots more on a CD than a cassette Mike so they could have thought even less of you for some extra tracks!!

    I can’t pick 5 so here’s my 20 :)

Tommy Emmanuelle, Those Who Wait & Questions
Savage Garden, I Knew I Loved You
Norah Jones, What Did You Say & Wake Me Up
    Newton Faulkner, Everyone Is You
Daniel Bedingfield, If You’re Not The One
Jackson Brown, Two of You, Two Of Me
Darren Hayes, I Can’t Get Enough Of You
    James Taylor, Boatman
KT Tunstall, Heal Over & Paper Aeroplane
John Mayer, Wheels, In Your Atmosphere & Slow Dancing In a Burning Room
    Phil Collins, Do You Remember
    Foo Fighters, Miracle
    Dickie Chicks, Landslide
    Pretenders, Hymn To Her

& finally the best of all
    Sade, Your Love Is King

Ha bit of a mixed bag hence my dilemma. Now Chasing Cars, great song. Mike……em how can I put this, DON’T be sending me any love songs hun lol
